My family consists of me, my husband, our 2 human boys and our furry boy - Harvey, the Great Dane. Spending time with my family playing, laughing, and snuggling is what is important to me.
My husband thinks that sometimes I "play" too much and don't get enough done around the house. But I explain to him that soon our boys will be "too grown up" and won't want to play with me anymore and then I'll have plenty of time to do stuff around the house. That usually gets him. He loves playing as much as I do anyway!
So we're living in the moment and we love throwing football out in the yard (or playing two-hand touch football (parents vs. kids)), going to Disney (we have annual passes), playing UNO, reading books together, enjoying the Wii, swimming in our neighbor's pool, riding bikes, walking Harvey, conducting a science experiment, and I could on and on.... because these are the times that mean the most to me. Our motto is "A family that plays together, stays together!"
I wish I could do this all day every day, and that was our plan but alas, due to complicated circumstances involving student loans and 9/11, I cannot stay home and must use my degree to teach outside the home. Since I have to work, at least I can work a job that fits my boys' schedules and it does give me the entire summer off. I am blessed.
But if there was a way for me to earn income and stay home & homeschool at the same time, I am all for it. My sister is a homeschooling mama and had been encouraging me to write a writing curriculum. She said it was an area that needed simplification that I could provide. So I did it! And now I am working to try and make my dream a reality - to share quality, intelligently simple writing lessons that may actually make it possible for me to be with my family full-time - because they mean the world to me!
